Who are we and what do WE know anyway ?
We are a retired couple from Pennsylvania, so happy to be living in South Africa that we decided to share with you the beautiful idea of retiring here.
We Exited North America, at Exit 1, and took Exit 2 to South Africa. We currently live in a rented house in a small town outside Cape Town. Because our experiences have been 99% in Western Cape Province, our advice on this website is focused on the area we know best.
Why this Website?
Exit2SouthAfrica was developed as we realized that many disenfranchised Americans might be looking for a less stressful place to live. We will give you our own reasons to consider South Africa as an alternative to whole Italian villages for $1 or vacant Irish houses. Here, we will share photos, experiences and answers to your questions, hoping that we will offer enough information for you to make an informed decision and to choose to enjoy retirement in South Africa.
Understanding that moving abroad brings many questions – about the language, taxes, transferring money, safety, weather, and more – we want to assist you in making the move as smooth as possible. While we provide general answers on the site, your unique lifestyle preferences and specific needs will certainly require more personalized guidance.
